Stacey Future Cover Artwork Version 2.0

I was looking at the finished cover and realized it was a little too heavy on the blue, which didn't make Stacey stand out as much as I would've wanted her to (especially since her uniform is also blue). So I changed the colors of the background entirely from blue to green, added some eerie mist rising from the valley below and some back light behind the volcanic formations.

I think it looks better and moodier this way. Let me know if you all agree (or not.)

Okay, THIS is my last post of 2008. ;)

James, firstly, thanks for one more pin-up for 2008.

When looking at the first version (and really any output from an artist) I just took it in and didn't notice it was overly blue. But looking at it again after you mention it, it definitely was blue-heavy. But it looked like the cover of a comic that might have been printed in the 50s. The second version definitely makes Stacey "pop" (even more so than normal) and the greens and more subdued background give the cover more of a 30s pulp look. The mist and glow are great additions and really help the piece look finished.

Thanks Mike.

I think the green cover version works best too. In particular, the dark green color and the mist/fumes make the planet's atmosphere look more toxic and add a certain eeriness to the scene... And the background glow helps make Stacey's headlights pop out even more, that's for sure. ;)

I agree: the revised background scheme is a great improvement.

The colors bring the celestial bodies into better relief, which adds to the "spaceyness" (is that a word?) of the piece. Nice job.

Thanks again for sharing.

Awesome, this version is more contrasted and the green background looks good with the colors of the dress of the girl. Thanks for share, nice mode of ended the 2008 (please excuse my english, i use spanish).

Thanks Dennis and Jesús.

Dennis: Glad you agree about the green replacing the blue. I think it gives an entire new look to the piece.

Jesús: It is a nice way to end 2008, isn't it? -- I really liked the color of Stacey's outfit too, so I didn't want to change it. The green background makes for a good contrast, I think.

Thanks guys!

PS: I'm hard at work on the first chapter of Stacey Future and will showcase a bit more from the strip as soon as it's done.

I must admit that I would never realize the convenience of one colour for the background sky, if you didn't mention it.
This means two important things:
- James remains aware of the details, these little but important things the true art is made of.
- We (or, at least, I) find his amazing babes so attractive that is really difficult for us to look at any other place in the picture.

In other words: thanks a lot, Mr. Lemay, for make us to look at the sky, as we didn't realize it was there. Hahaha

Haha!

Thanks, Anboto!

I always make sure the focal point in my artwork is a babe, so that way, I can get away with screwing up the background! ;)
