So, I thought I would try a new approach: selling one of my comic books directly from my blog. But first, I need to know if it's worth it, hence the new poll on the top right corner of the blog.
A few details about the Sideshow Nympho comic in question to help you make a decision:
- Each monthly chapter is 5 pages long and contains professional, high quality artwork. (No amateur art here, folks!)
- The story line is ongoing with plenty of babes and lots of kinky, XXX-rated content.
- Each page is 1240 dpi wide. (Quite larger than the low resolution sample below.)
- The pages are in jpeg format and saved at maximum quality with minimum compression.
- Everything - script, artwork, coloring, and lettering - is by me.
- Chapters would be sent directly to your email address once payment is processed.

Please answer the poll and let me know what you think. Comments or questions are welcome.
Thanks.
- James.
Good Day
ReplyDeletewould you be taking/using PayPals' service for payments, too.
Hi.
ReplyDeleteYes I would be using Paypal for payment.
Hm... How would the comic book be sold? Privacy issues, you know, worries about the name appearing and my people seeing it, hehe.
ReplyDeleteThe comic would be sent directly to your email account and sold through Paypal.
ReplyDeleteThe book will be sold under the name "Sideshow Graphic Novel".
ufff what a sexy nasty/vixen!!!!
ReplyDeleteI preffer a comic printed in my hands, but i am a poor guy from Venezuela, my opinion is only to post a comment !-)
Yeah, she's a nasty little nympho. ;)
ReplyDeleteI much prefer a comic book in my hands as well but what can you do...
Hey, James. Got a few questions for you. How would you feel if they made 1970's cartoon show "Jabberjaw" into a live-action movie? Who do you think would "play" Jabberjaw? Who would play The Neptunes?
ReplyDeleteI would suggest that from a pure business point of view... online monthly subscription deals are both to risky for consumers and also and 5 pages is a low value deal. You have great talent. You need to think on the level that if your really going mass market, then graphic novel is your best bet. And chapters not pages is a more valid idea. Then at the end of the book...which should be at least 10 chapters. you publish a full scale, color special edition.
ReplyDeleteThe sections your putting now are not much more than a clip and let alone a chapter. you need to be thinking 10 pages minimum and twice a month. Now Iam sure your going to scream that's to much, but you want to give value added to expand your readership. Not try to sell "juice by the drop".
In a world where most writer get paid 50 cents per word...you product needs to be show greater coverage. The Alien Winter with all sections combined is barely equal to a chapter of a real book. A decent graphic novel is at least 250 pages and often sells for under 10 bucks.
Yes... I know what Iam saying is not what you want to here. But you want to thousands of copies, you need to make the experience better than what a regular comic books are now.
Also this concept will allow other money making opportunities as well. These will generate more money and more fans. For you it will be a win-win.
You are work is awesome but your marketing is not skewed in the best interest of your customer. oh an yes, I am in the publishing business. And you deliver your book on CD in a PDF..not hacking or copying....not download.
All the Best
Great. How do we buy?
ReplyDeleteWilliam: I never got to watch that show, sorry.
ReplyDeleteAnonymous: Thanks for the advice. I'm aware of all these options to sell digital artwork online. This is just a tryout I'm considering.
Black Tux: If I decide to sell the comic book, there will be a link provided to purchase the chapters. I'll make a decision on whether I do sell it here once the poll closes in a couple days.
Hey, James! You can purchase "Jabberjaw: The Complete Series" at WBShop.com.
